From gerhard at sopac.org Thu Apr 6 11:27:18 2006 From: gerhard at sopac.org (Gerhard Zieroth) Date: Thu Apr 6 11:22:05 2006 Subject: [Piepsap-fiji] ACP European Union Energy Facility - Important Notice Message-ID: <3036294AE6B5D811A494000D9DDCF741012BFF38@BIGIRON> Dear All Last week European Union officials have announced the inception of the EU Energy Facility in Suva. The objective of the EUEF is to contribute to the achievement of the MDGs in particular the goal on poverty through increased access to sustainable energy services. Proposals for funding under the EUEF will be called in June 2006. In total 220 Million Euro will be made available to co-fund three types of projects: * Increased Access to Energy Services (minimum 60 % of funding) * Improved Energy Management and Governance (maximum 20 % funding) * Improved Cross-border and Regional Co-operation (maximum 20 % funding) Strategic principles of the Facility include focus, effectiveness, sustainability, ownership, efficiency, leverage and innovation. Eligible for funding under the EUEF will be EU and ACP based public bodies, non-state actors, aid organizations and the private sector. Selection of proposals will be transparent and strictly competitive. I.e. the best proposals will get funding. PIEPSAP believes that this is an exiting opportunity for the Pacific ACP countries to attract additional funding to the Pacific regions energy sectors. We therefore offer assistance in proposal preparation and project identification. As the window for proposal preparation will probably less than three months it is advisable to start identifying and preparing projects now. Please let us know if you require assistance in proposal preparation and project identification.
