The People First Network project = is one of five projects worldwide to be pre-selected as finalist for the 2004 = IPDC Rural Communication Prize.

The competition is run by the International Programme for the = Development of Communications, based at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO.

The winner will be announced on March 31st and the prize of USD 25,000 = will be presented to the winner in Paris.

The prize is awarded every two years to a person, group of people = or one or more institutions or organizations for "their particularly = meritorious and innovative actions aimed at improving communication and = facilitating the participation of rural populations, especially in developing countries, = in the economic, cultural and social life of their = countries."=

PFnet wishes to thank the = Ministry of Education who facilitated the entry of PFnet into the competition = during their visit to Paris last year.
